Where are all the absurdists?

I am watching psych out right now, and in this movie and many other movies from the 60's there are so many absurdists. For instance, in the beginning scene of this movie, the Haight Ashbury district is filled with people with blank signs protesting nothing. I love that idea, but whatever happened to all of these absurdists? Are they alive? Dead? Incognito? PS I am using speech to text, so this is the most poorly worded blog post ever
